More about our presenter
Andrea Nattrass is the publisher of Pan Macmillan South Africa. She started her career as in-house editor at Oxford University Press, Cape Town, on the Human and Social Sciences and Trade Books list, and then freelanced for a twelve-year period, during which time she worked for a variety of publishing houses in the capacities of editor, project manager and consultant. These publishers included Wits University Press and Pan Macmillan (in Johannesburg), as well as University of KwaZulu-Natal Press and Watermark Publishing (in Pietermaritzburg). Andrea was involved in the editing and production of close to 200 books during this period.
In February 2010, Andrea joined Pan Macmillan and has been there for the last eight years. As publisher at Pan Macmillan South Africa, she is responsible for managing the local publishing team, which develops and produces the titles by South African authors, both fiction and non-fiction. Her input ranges from overall budgeting and project management to contract negotiations with an author to title costing and scheduling, from manuscript development and editing to proofreading (and supervising others in these tasks), from cover development to design and typesetting input as well as shaping marketing and publicity policy on a title.
Attendees are welcome to send any questions on this topic beforehand and Andrea will try to incorporate them into her presentation. Questions must be received by Monday 5 March 2018. Please send your questions to Camilla Singh (email@example.com).
