Who are we?

About Us

Launched in Johannesburg in 1993, the Professional Editors’ Group (PEG) represents copy-editors, proofreaders and other practitioners operating in the South African publishing industry, in corporate communications and in the media.

Our members include both freelancers and full-timers who work professionally in any of South Africa’s nine official languages (and others) as copy-editors, writers, rewriters (or overwriters), proofreaders, translators, indexers, book designers, and book and magazine DTP specialists.

We also welcome into our midst those who are not yet practising but who have an interest in the field. The Group serves practitioners throughout South and southern Africa and more recently it has extended its international reach.

PEG also maintains links with kindred organisations in Australia, Canada and England.

author his writing is better

a little better." (TS Elliot)
